INTERSTELLAR FREE TRADE AGREEMENT

A measure introduced and ratified in the United Nations in 2165 allowed for nations to claim stellar properties in distant solar systems. It dictated the parameters in which the claims would be filed, paid for, and enforced. It set up the frameworks that allowed transit corridors through claimed solar systems that preserved national sovereignty while allowing the pursuance of trade and transit by non-national travelers.

Its last major provision was maintaining these transit routes, even in times of war, essentially protecting deep space colonies from getting cut off from the Core Worlds.
